Dress Code

Daytime

As we travel through France towards Italy, we’d love for the daytime dress to reflect the timeless elegance associated with travel on the Orient Express.

For the journey, we suggest casual elegance.

Ladies - light, flowing dresses, elegant matching separates or tailored separates or refined jumpsuits in soft, romantic fabrics such as linen, silk or cotton are advised.

Gentlemen - lightweight suits or jackets with trousers and a shirt, paired with loafers or other elegant shoes.

Please note that, in accordance with the Venice Simplon Orient Express dress code, jeans, T-shirts, trainers and sneakers are not permitted on board.

For ladies, we also recommend avoiding stilettos. As the train is constantly in motion, a lower or more stable heel will be much more comfortable.

Evening

For the evening, we invite you to take inspiration from the 1920s and 1930s, the golden age of the Orient Express. Think evening elegance with a nod to the era, rather than period costume.

Ladies - elegant cocktail dresses, long evening gowns or beautifully tailored evening suits. Jewellery, headpieces and other accessories inspired by the era are a lovely way to add a touch of 1920s or 1930s glamour.

Gentlemen - elegant evening jackets, velvet or smoking jackets, or an elegant three-piece suit. A tie or bow tie is optional but welcome. Feel free to add any accessories to make it your own.

The dress code is elegant evening wear, close to but not strictly Black Tie, so there is plenty of room for personal touches.
